Costa Rica's Carlos Muñoz returns to Lowers, Trestles, San Clemente, CA April 27 2015
Costa Rica's Carlos Muñoz is returning to San Clemente, California to compete in the Lowers Pro WSQ (World Qualifying Series) at the famous Trestles break. Last year, Carlos competed in the Hurley Pro on a Wild Card entry and defeated number one ASP ranked Gabriel Medina in the first round.
The Oakleys Lowers Pro at Trestles will run from April 28th through May 2nd. Jim Hogan, Carlos' coach, will accompany "Cali" on this trip. Hogan is originally from San Clemente and currently lives, surfs and coaches in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica. He was key in coaching Cali in last year's Hurley Pro, which drew elite surfers from all over including 11 time World Champion, Kelly Slater. A huge crowd of fans from Costa Rica flew out to Trestles to support Cali on his quest. He eventually was put out in the third round by Medina, but not without putting up a good fight and winning fans in California with his style, humility and perseverance. Carlos' brother, Alberto Muñoz, was also on the trip to cheer on his brother while Mom Carmen Herrera was watching the event live streamed in Costa Rica. They are a tight knit family and represent Costa Rica at its finest.
Good luck, Cali! #GoCarlos #HastalaVictoriaSiempre
